English Poker Open Recap

English Poker Open: German player Fabian Quoss prevailed at the 2010 English Poker Open, grossing a total of £220,650 in the £3,500 buy-in Texas Hold ‘Em poker tournament.

In the final hand, both Quoss and Sebastian Crul went all-in pre-flop, with Quoss’ A-Q against Crul’s A-5 suited. An ace hit the board, giving them each a pair of aces, but Quoss’ Queen kicker sealed the deal. This win broke Quoss’ streak of finishing second, something he has done three times since last summer. Always a bridesmaid, never a bride no longer!

Quoss, who also finished 7th at the WPT London, beat out 193 players including poker pros Phil Laak and Liv Boree.

Both players Laak and Boeree have also been running hot lately. Boeree proved she was a force to be reckoned with when she finished first at the EPT San Remo. Laak, for his part, has been apparently crushing the cash games while proving he’s in the best tournament poker shape of his life by finishing 15th of 764 at Partouche and now with his more recent win at the WSOPE.
